Bead Journey

For one moment, I thought I would find myself locked up with the same old bead designs.  Though I had deliberately planned it this way due to the ongoing pain I feel on my right hand and arm, creative ideas just come out of the blue.  Like this year's Scarf necklace.

The wood beads with gold studs used in this year's Scarf necklace were sourced from New Jersey in 2009.  I had no intention to go bead buying while on that trip.  I was there for the purpose of family and relaxation.  Yet, fate beckoned.  So I returned home with one luggage filled with beads.

The gold dangling ornaments, on the other hand, were of different use previous to the scarf arrangement.  These were dangling earrings which I discovered and bought from a local souk in 2010.  But since then, all sets have  been tucked  in a luggage and momentarily forgotten.  Until the creative thought of tearing them apart  came about last week. I owe this to one rough day.

So bead and earrings have finally found its use years after.

But this year, I aim going beyond with what I have long been accustomed with--bead necklaces.  I  wish for: beaded bags, beaded purses, beaded home decor, and so forth. Obviously still with beads playing the primary role. WHY? I have worked on bead necklaces for a long time now, and I know for a fact that I will go on with this bead journey for as long as my hands and arms can. But it's about time to add  more spice and get hold of new excitement.

So here you go, my first non-bead necklace offering.  Purple Purse.

2012 Scarf Necklace

I posted this photo in this blog 3 days ago, the day when a situation turned out rough.
Well, the "roughness" ain't over yet given the heavy downpour of insane emotions that continue to flood my text mail. Something connected with my not so long ago life, and an issue that pertains to employer-employee relationship.  Well, here's what I have to say--Get hold of yourself.  BE PROFESSIONAL instead of emotional. Move on.  Learn.

Thank God, my beads have kept me sane throughout the rough days. Here are the first three  Scarf Necklaces this year.

BEIGE

BLACK

PURPLE

This year's scarf necklaces are composed of gold-plated ornaments and wood beads that travelled a total distance of 13,683 kilometers or 8,502 miles or 7,388 nautical miles in 2009.  For queries or orders, you may send your email to bybeadedstory@gmail.com.

Rough Day

Rough day today.  Crossing my fingers that  the issue ends before I turn the lights off, and that there be world peace quick.  But thanks to beading for keeping me tough (sane and composed).

Yes, I beaded while  I huffed and puffed.  Here's what came out...2012 Scarf necklaces.

World Peace!!!

TALA on SCARF necklaces

At a mini-park in front of Mom's office in New York.
The day and spot where I first wore a mock-up of By Beaded Story's Tala on Scarf necklace.

I was apprehensive of this arrangement in the beginning.  A scarf around the neck definitely ain't comfortable in a whole year round humid Philippine climate. But with a bit of tweak on the design to address  climate concerns, I did a hush-hush release of a few pieces to my clients from Sonya's Garden and Alabang Hills Village Christmas Bazaar 4th quarter last year.  I was floored by the response.  All pieces sold.

Then, I was floored even more when these pieces earned heartwarming feedback from Australian clients weeks ago.

So this time, I go all out.

Here you go. By Beaded Story's 2nd wave of TALA on SCARF necklaces.

Turn your scarf into a BAG

If you haven't noticed yet, on  the lower right of your screen says this ...

Recycle! Why put to waste when you can turn your "vintage" blouses and dresses into pretty beaded cloth necklaces. For queries, email us at bybeadedstory@gmail.com.
2010 marked the year when By Beaded Story paved its way to do its share on saving Mother Earth.  Not only do we serve bead orders in recycled packaging, we have also took bead cloth necklaces a notch higher by using material from old blouses, dresses and scarves.

Last year's order made from a long forgotten dress.

Most often, clients opt to take the recycling route for two reasons:  1)  The obvious reason, to declutter and create more space, and 2) To keep the memory of yesteryears alive though this keepsake.   Dresses, even blouses, are easy to manage and convert into necklaces.  But when faced with baby clothes (especially newborn clothes), creativity and workmanship are put to a challenge.  So far the end result has been good and heartwarming.

But when it comes to a scarf, did you ever know that you may turn this into a purse/bag, a halter top and a belt too?  I usually share this tip from Today's Show with a client before I even take a look at the material.  Of course, minds change.

Last Sunday, the tip completely slipped my mind.  The talk about Lilet's engagement overpowered the tip. So, I brought home a bunch of scarves waiting to be turned into bead cloth necklaces.

But not just yet.
The scarves of my friend.

Here's how you can turn your square scarf into a purse/bag.  If you want a more detailed demo, you may watch it HERE.
Use at least a 36" by 36" square scarf.  I prefer it bigger :)
Dull side should be facing up.

Tie two opposite corners  into a knot.

Tie the last two opposite corners of the scarf.
This will serve as the purse/bag's handle.

Now a purse/bag!

So Mac, a bag or a necklace?   Let me know soon.
