When not beading, this is what I do...

Hehe, but true.  Especially now that  GENERIKID has been on a roll for already three weeks.

First was all about celebrating Easter which we called PALAKASAN!

  

Then, I took a happy break in Baguio.

Next was a feast of artworks that embody happy and healthy kids, PAGALINGAN.  Here are the top 3 winners as voted by the Pharmacy's loyal patrons.

Last Saturday was an upbeat dance showdown participated by 4 groups. PASIKLABAN!

The Original GeneriKIDs.  These 3 were part of last year's GeneriKID too.

They came well prepared and wowed the audience with their high energy dance number and awesome stunts. This group embodied what a GeneriKID is all about! 

Then on Thursday, I'm off to Baguio again!!! 



Sights along the way

Remember when I blogged a few days back about the plan to deliver new bead necklaces to Sonya's Garden?  Well, I'm finally over and done with this long pending task.  Truth is, the necklaces have long been ready, waiting to be delivered since March.  But with the many interruptions and side trips that came along, I sort of forgot.  *Haha. 

Anyway, and just another bit of  persistent reminder, By Beaded Story's 2011 bead necklaces (Lace Bead Cloth, Dainty Lace Chalk and Flora Chunky Beads) are now available at the Country Store of Sonya's Garden. 

Bead necklaces aside, here are a few interesting sights along the way.

First stop, the Pharmacy to check-out the final art entries of our Children's Summer Drawing Contest.

Dropped by Kawit to visit a 3rd option for the Pharmacy's team building, Water Camp Resort.  Apparently, no one from the team would dare swim in Liliw's cold water springs nor soak in the deep waters of  Lake Pandin. Same goes for me.

Happy Easter!

Easter of years ago. Me in my favorite egg spot, while my brother claimed the other end of the garden as his.  

Egg hunt was our home's annual tradition to celebrate Easter Sunday.  Our Mom's go-signal to begin the hunt absolutely gave each of us an adrenaline boost to hunt as many eggs as we could.  The more, the best!  Some eggs were hidden in giveaway places, yet some lay on a tree branch, and a few others camouflaged by stones and rocks.   We had a blast, most especially with the yummy candies inside the eggs.   Kraft's chewy caramel was the best!

Yesterday, the Pharmacy's kid registrants hunted for Easter eggs but  with a "supposed  twist".  Twists make it more exciting.  6-12 year old kids were to hunt and pick Easter eggs  in a span of 2 minutes. In BLINDFOLD, but paired with a 3-5 year old kid whose function is to give directions and be a patient guide.

My blindfold purpose:  to enhance communication skills and the art of listening. 

But, missing in this link were  eagerness and an exploding sense of excitement.  Thus, we resulted with a  shouting, running, climbing and digging 2-minute egg hunt-RIOT. No gasps in between. Young guides pushing and pulling their paired hunter.  While their mothers successfully paved their own way in acting out a  hunter as well. *Haha. 

Yet, look how organized and well-behaved they were at the start.

Too good to be true. *Haha.

On top of the Egg Hunt, we extended our fun riot with an Easter Egg Relay and the popular Hep Hooray game.

All 37 kids went home high, happy, and with a lootbag filled with pharmacy goodies.  Children's vitamins, School supplies, Generikard and a bird.  They promised to return on May 7 for our drawing contest in which artworks of the top 3 winners will be displayed in the Pharmacy.

Flood Go Away. I'm going to Quiapo next day.

This is what J. Bond passed through on his way home Monday night ....

What usually takes a 45-minute travel from work to home (inclusive of traffic), took 3 hours because of floods brought by the strong rain early that night.     Of course, J. Bond arrived home pissed.

Yet, I was oblivious to such occurrence as I was too engrossed on the ongoing drama at Mara's wake ---scene after scene heated arguments, supported by heart wrenching face slapping, culminating to non-stop crying.  Then, a miracle happened just last night.  Mara rose from the dead.  Fans are rejoicing most especially me.   *Haha!  As expected in Filipino Telenovelas! But, I confess I am addicted to it. 

  

Despite my attempt to speed up the sympathetic finally-your-home hug and immediately return to watching Mara Clara, I missed the latter part of that night's episode.  The photos of the flood shown by J. Bond as soon as he arrived home entailed me to bump-off the show and re-think of next day's Quiapo trip instead.  There was no way I would commute to Quiapo in this flood, I thought.  A rainy day would  not be  a hindrance to make a trip to Quiapo.  I'm well-prepared and geared-up for rain, including that gooey garbage I always accidentally step on in Quiapo.  But with flood, I definitely won't manage.

In the morning,  luck was on my side.  Great! The sun was up.  The flood gone.  And so, I went.  Not for beads.  But for a toy bird.

Obviously, I became  hooked on birds after my encounter with a pigeon and ducks during Monday morning's Bahay Kubo medical mission. But, I prefer the colorful-toy-kind rather than the real chirpy flying ones. *Haha.  With Generikid coming soon, purpose of this first for the year Quiapo trip  was to buy  a bunch of multi-colored toy birds that first crossed my path in one of my bead splurging visits last year.  These birds are one of our colorful prizes for the participating kids, but  I'm thinking of live chicks too.

This bird flies high by the way.  As the lady in the photo demonstrates, wind the winding stem found near the head of the bird.  Then, let go.  On another note, I am amazed with the background images of this photo - kalesa, jeepney, colorful balloons of the street vendor and, Mang Inasal.  It has captured the symbolic images that are only found in Manila, Philippines =)

See!  It really does fly high.  I tried flying one at home and damaged it after so many attempts.  I need MORE practice.
