Generikard Winners

The holiday lull is definitely over.  Except for the ongoing bug (flu/cough/colds) flying around Generika (the pharmacy), which by the way landed on me a few days ago, we have been kicking butts for triple time action on marketing activities.  So as a jumpstart for 2011, we gave away Generikards to 10 lucky customers!!!
Launched 1st quarter of 2010, the GeneriKard allows customers to earn points for purchases made from Generika stores.  Earned points may be applied to succeeding purchases, on top of the special privileges and exciting offers exclusively provided to Generikard cardholders.  To know more, click HERE.

Over the weekend,  while these in-store and external activities went on ...

Free Medical check-up

Flyering with free blood pressure at wet markets

.... we raffled off Generikards to ten lucky customers.  Here they are :)

CHEERS, winners!!!

Going on 5

We're going on 5!  And my brains are racked from brewing a plan on how to celebrate.   I'm sure that lightbulb moment will hit just right before the day arrives.  For now, I'm going gaga over this song.  Listen to it, and read the lyrics below.

I see my "younger" worry-wart self having a "nonsense" converstion with the enticing J. Bond......including that chilly eve when I firmly opted to pack up and back out from marital bliss(ter).  But thanks to B=RAVE dude friend and his girl for holding me captive until I gave my sweet I do the morning after. No regrets after all.  Hehe!

The Lyrics:  Baby It's Cold Outside

I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away - Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful, what's your hurry
My father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar
So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry
Well maybe just a half a drink more - Put some music on while I pour

The neighbors might think - Baby, it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink - No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight
To break the spell - I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no, sir - Mind if I move closer
At least I'm gonna say that I tried - What's the sense in hurting my pride?
I really can't stay - Baby don't hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

C'mon baby

I simply must go - Baby, it's cold outside
The answer is no - Ooh darling, it's cold outside
This welcome has been - I'm lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm - Look out the window at that storm
My sister will be suspicious - Man, your lips look delicious
My brother will be there at the door - Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious - Gosh your lips are delicious
Well maybe just a half a drink more - Never such a blizzard before

I've got to go home - Oh, baby, you'll freeze out there
Say, lend me your coat - It's up to your knees out there
You've really been grand - I thrill when you touch my hand
But don't you see - How can you do this thing to me?
There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Think of my life long sorrow
At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died
I really can't stay - Get over that hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

Baby it's cold outside

Brr its cold.
It's cold out there
Cant you stay awhile longer baby
Well..I really shouldn't...alright

Make it worth your while baby
Ahh, do that again.

Love this song. I'm smiling :)

Mix of scents

My home emits a mix of scents these days.  J. Bond has gone full blast with his cooking, using spices as his power tool.  So we have been both on the spicy side, especially the kitchen. Lol!

Tandoori Chicken Skewers was J. Bond's main dish over the weekend.

Shopping for spices at South Supermarket.

Kashmir's ground turmeric bought from Rustan's Makati.

The recipe from J. Bond's newest cookbook.

Tandoori Chicken Skewers!!!

Since the spicy-ness still lingers, I masked the scent with these new found craft I have been so obssesed with since the holidays.  This, in fact, was spread around as Christmas gifts to family and friends placed in small banig boxes.

A bowl of unscented dried seeds, leaves, twigs from Shopwise.

At most, 5 drops of your favorite potpourri scent dropped onto the bowl of seeds is enough.  But in my spicy case, I made a deliberate drop of 2 teaspoons of Lavender.  Shake the bowl to spread the oil evenly.  For Christmas, I used Green Apple instead.

No more spicy smell!
Finally, the house smells good and absolutely conducive to relaxation :)

Finally, water is back!

I'm still annoyed.  Even if water is back.

Unlike previous years, the village association  somehow forgot to notify homeowners on today's scheduled cleaning of water tanks and pipes. Darn! I was consumed about it the whole day, thus leading me to accomplish nothing.

Anyway, I feel a bit relieved now.  Otherwise, I would have joined these kids splashing around puked dirty water from a nearby pipe.

Soap suds floated around. I assume the kids had shampoo and soap with them.  Lol!

The simple pleasures of childhood.

They must have thought, waterfalls!

Another waterfall JUMP!

Despite the stern warnings of their mothers, I secretly wished that they stayed on.  Really! Their  splashing and laughing around made me momentarily forget my  concern for the day.

And now that water is back, I am dreaming of being a child again! .....because I would think of dirty water as waterfalls too, and definitely I would have splashed and laughed with them as well.

By the way, these kids were my daily Christmas Carollers the WHOOOOOLE month of December.

Turn your scarf into a BAG

If you haven't noticed yet, on  the lower right of your screen says this ...

Recycle! Why put to waste when you can turn your "vintage" blouses and dresses into pretty beaded cloth necklaces. For queries, email us at bybeadedstory@gmail.com.
2010 marked the year when By Beaded Story paved its way to do its share on saving Mother Earth.  Not only do we serve bead orders in recycled packaging, we have also took bead cloth necklaces a notch higher by using material from old blouses, dresses and scarves.

Last year's order made from a long forgotten dress.

Most often, clients opt to take the recycling route for two reasons:  1)  The obvious reason, to declutter and create more space, and 2) To keep the memory of yesteryears alive though this keepsake.   Dresses, even blouses, are easy to manage and convert into necklaces.  But when faced with baby clothes (especially newborn clothes), creativity and workmanship are put to a challenge.  So far the end result has been good and heartwarming.

But when it comes to a scarf, did you ever know that you may turn this into a purse/bag, a halter top and a belt too?  I usually share this tip from Today's Show with a client before I even take a look at the material.  Of course, minds change.

Last Sunday, the tip completely slipped my mind.  The talk about Lilet's engagement overpowered the tip. So, I brought home a bunch of scarves waiting to be turned into bead cloth necklaces.

But not just yet.
The scarves of my friend.

Here's how you can turn your square scarf into a purse/bag.  If you want a more detailed demo, you may watch it HERE.
Use at least a 36" by 36" square scarf.  I prefer it bigger :)
Dull side should be facing up.

Tie two opposite corners  into a knot.

Tie the last two opposite corners of the scarf.
This will serve as the purse/bag's handle.

Now a purse/bag!

So Mac, a bag or a necklace?   Let me know soon.

2011 Resolution

I am resolved on having no resolutions this year. Nothing happens anyway. Lol! But I truly wish that your 2011 resolution(s) do come true.
Me and my sparkler

May the force be with you!!!

I miss watusis

The last time I blew up a can of watusi was when fear of losing my fingers was yet inexistent.  I was obsessed with it.  In fact, I  used to collect boxes of watusi that lasted 'til the week before Valentines.  Without watusi, New Year felt incomplete. But instead of stepping on it one at a time, I would wrap bunches of them in old newspaper, place it in an old can, then light the whole thing up.  In a span of minutes, I become amazed with the minute or so dance number of what looked like a swarm of "fireflies" going crazy.
And so after this casual laugh trip intimate New Year's dinner at my Aunt's place last night, I suddenly craved for the firecracker thrill that has been long forgotten.  Unlike previous years, I inititated the firecracker shopping this time. J. Bond was surprised on the sudden change of heart.  He practically knew me as contra-firecrackers for fear of wounds, burns, cuts or loss of body parts.  But having survived my wake-up call mid-2010, I thought that I had a great reason  to celebrate the New Year in a BLAST!!!
Of course, the only firecracker I asked for were watusis.  Unfortunately, I was told that watusis were no longer available in the market due to tons of accidents it had caused over the years.  So, the coming of 2011 was celebrated with sparklers instead...
...and a box of golden dragons in the sky that blew 16 shots of this ...
Doesn't it look like an asterisk (*)?

                                               Happy New Year!!!
